Description and objective: Organizations are experiencing rapid and major changes in their work environments. Key to successful change activities are the people within these organizations -- their personal well-being and their support for the proposed changes. This workshop looks at the human issues related to organizational change both from an individual and project implementation perspective. Participants are introduced to the concept of change as a process: letting go of the old --> transition --> embracing the new. They also learn that for both positive and negative change, our emotions are on a roller coaster -- one minute happy or accepting, the next moment fearful or apprehensive. Participants will learn how to minimize their own and others resistance to change, while increasing resilience to change.
The best place to start change is with yourself. If whatever you do doesn't work, you must be flexible - you must change your action plan if the current one does not produce the required results. If you want other people to change, you must be prepared to make the first step yourself. If you cannot change your environment, you should change your attitude.
One of the NLP leading thinkers, Robert Dilts, suggests that there are six neuro logical levels of learning, communication and change. In a hierarchical order, they are: purpose, mission, beliefs and values, capabilities, behavior, and environment. Any changes made at the higher levels will have a greater influence on you than those made at the lower levels.
Reframing is a powerful technique to enable change. Different levels of experience influence the way we live our lives. The value of reframing is being able to consider an issue from many different aspects. Reframing is a way of getting people to think: 'How else can I do or consider this?'
