Description and objective: We review the problems that arise in working with the Japanese and how to avoid misunderstandings.
Topics include: Key Japanese business and social etiquette issues such as "Meishi Koukan" (business card exchange), greetings, respect for age, rank and status, the importance of "wa" (harmony and politeness), the strength of personal relationships in business, Japanese attitudes towards employment (including increasing job flexibility), the slow decision-making process, attitudes towards meetings, presentations and negotiations.
