Description and objective: The course covers an understanding of the various types various types of discrimination and how to prevent or deal positively with the different forms it can take.
On completion, delegates should have the confidence to apply what they have learnt in society and the workplace.
They will have an understanding of:-
The different forms discrimination can take.
The causes and effects of discrimination with regard to disadvantaged groups.
Patterns of discrimination and how they intersect e.g. race and disability.
The shortcomings of current multicultural approached and identify the steps towards a more effective anti-racist practice.
Key anti-discrimination laws and the role of the proposed Commission for Equality and Human Rights and how you and your workplace can prepare for this.
How to integrate diversity into policies and procedures.
