Description and objective: Every year, people are killed or seriously injured when working in excavations. Excavation work has to be properly planned, managed, supervised and carried out to prevent accidents.

This course is based on the HSE publication HSG 185 ‘Health and Safety in Excavations’ and provides valuable guidance on the measures required in order to carryout excavations safely. The course gives examples of genuine accidents associated with excavation work.
Training in the use of Cable Avoidance Tools is also included.
